ABOUT DRAGONSCALE HYDROS
5/1/21 We are about to start construction on the new shop! It's about time! So I will be taking a break from boat building for a little while, probably most of this summer. Once the shop is done then I will have plenty of room to make a few other style hulls that I have been wanting to do for a long time. Thank you for the Support!
At Dragonscale Hydros we build the highest quality, lightest and strongest 1/6 Gas Scale Hydroplanes and Classic Thunderboats. This is an all carbon fiber hull made using the resin infusion process. This results in a part that has superior strength and weight characteristics to a hand laid part. This will be the strongest and lightest hull you will ever purchase. The hull fits many of the 1/6 Gas scale class hulls and also the Classic Thunderboat for both NAMBA and IMPBA. Hull typically weighs in at 7-8 lbs.
Dragonscale Hydro hulls will fit scale hull #'s 5131, 5620, 5608, 5860, 5719, 5840, 5879, 5900, 5960, 6004, 6375, 6303, 6402, 6403, 6407, 6420, 6499, 6702, 6707, 6708, 6926 which will produce 80+ different paint schemes.

RESIN INFUSION PROCESS
Here is a video of the resin infusion process for one of the Dragonscale Hydros bottoms.
The layup of this part can be seen in another video. The standard layup is 2 layers of 5.7oz carbon fiber cloth, 1 layer of 2mm Soric Honeycomb core, then 1 more layer of 5.7oz carbon cloth. Peel ply, then an infusion mesh layer are added on top. These last 2 layers are removed after the part has cured. The whole mold is put into a vacuum bag and sealed. The vacuum pump removes the air and compresses the materials together. Then the resin is introduced to the front of the part and is drawn towards the rear by the vacuum pump. Once all the material is wet out, the lines are clamped off and the part will be left to cure for 24hrs.
